I travel less than the internet might suggest, and I write about places I actually know.

Most of what's here centers on the Hudson Valley — the region I live in, cook in, and hike around — written from the perspective of someone who's still finding new corners of it years in. You'll also find the occasional dispatch from somewhere else: a city I've spent real time in, a trip that taught me something useful, a hotel worth the recommendation.

What you won't find here: press-trip listicles, "10 must-see destinations" content recycled from other travel sites, or itineraries that try to do six cities in five days. I'd rather write 1,500 words about one weekend in one place that I know well than skim ten places I barely visited.
